Man Arrested And Firearm Recovered In West Belfast
A 33-year-old man has been arrested and a suspected firearm recovered during a police operation in west Belfast on the evening og Sunday, 07 July.
Inspector McCullough said: "Officers carried out planned searches at two properties in the Kashmir Road area of the city – where a suspected firearm and other items were seized from one of the addresses.
"They have since been removed for further forensic examination as enquiries continue tonight.
"A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances, and possession of a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
"He remains in custody at this time as the investigation progresses. Keeping people safe continues to be our priority and we remain grateful for the support of local communities.
"We would encourage anyone with information, or concerns, to contact us on 101 or report online via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport"

Alliance Condemns Banner At Irish Language School
Alliance has condemned a banner, which has now been removed, erected at the site of a proposed Irish-medium Integrated School on Montgomery Road in East Belfast. The banner called for the Scoil na Seolta ('School of the Sails') to relocate from the area 'to where it is wanted' while also reading: "Relocate Irish school to where it is needed".

The new Youth Justice Agency (YJA) headquarters was officially opened today. During a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Justice Minister Naomi Long opened the new facilities, which are based at Charles House, Donegall Street, Belfast.

Two Major City Deals Given Green Light
The City Growth Deals in the Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid South West regions will go ahead, Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced. There are four Northern Ireland City Deals but two of these, Causeway Coast and Glens and Mid South West, were put on hold earlier this month as the Government reviewed its spending.
