Appeal Issued After Newry Burglary And Hit-And-Run Road Crash

Detectives have appealed for information for information following a report of a burglary and hit-and-run road traffic collision in Newry on Sunday morning, 23 June.

Police received a report that a white BMW X5 was stolen outside a house in the Dublin Road area of Cloghoge. Shortly before 10am, it was reported that the homeowner found the front door of their house open with car keys and other items. The PSNI believe that this may have taken place shortly before 7.30am.

Detective Sergeant Lewis said: "We then received a report that two women were struck by a white BMW X5 in the Martins Lane area of Newry at around 8.25am. The vehicle then made off and one of the women, aged in her 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries.

"Officers remain at the scene of the road traffic collision, conducting enquiries. We would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the Dublin Road area of Cloghoge around 7am this morning, or who witnessed the road traffic collision in the Martins Lane area to contact us on 101 and quote reference 489 23/06/24.

"We would also appeal to anyone who seen a white BMW X5 acting suspiciously in the Newry area to contact us."
