NI Unemployment Rate Lowest In UK

Northern Ireland has the lowest unemployment rate in the UK, according to new figures from Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA).

Unemployment fell by 0.1% between February and April this year, with the latest figure standing at 2.2%.

The total number of people defined as "economic inactive" – people not in work nor looking for a job, for example students, carers, sick – was 27%, almost 5% higher than the UK average.

The NISRA figures also revealed that NI's employment rate stood at 71.3%, 3% lower than the UK rate but the highest in NI since the pandemic.

NI unemployment rate falls slightly
