Man Arrested Following Discovery Of Improvised Explosive Device

The PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit have worked in partnership with An Garda Síochána to arrest a man in Co Louth following the discovery of a suspected improvised explosive device in Co Louth.

The arrest was made during a search operation in the Ravensdale area in the early hours of Sunday, 09 June.

The device has since been removed for further forensic examination as enquiries continue.

Following the operation, Detective Chief Inspector Hamlin from the Police Service's Terrorism Investigation Unit said: "Working in support of An Garda Síochána we carried out a search of a property in the Letterbreen area on Sunday morning, 9th June.

"A 42-year-old man was arrested under Section 41 Terrorism of the Terrorism Act 2000 and has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station for questioning.

"A vehicle and other items were also seized from the property and have been removed for further forensic examination.

"Searches were also carried out today, Sunday 9th June, in the Enniskillen area where a second vehicle was seized and a further search was also conducted at a property in the Garrison area.

"Our investigation is continuing and we will be providing full support to An Garda Síochána as enquiries continue."

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dissident Republican Activity
The PSNI have arrested a man in connection with dissident republican activity in L'Derry. The 21-year-old is currently being questioned in custody. He was detained in the Creggan area under the Terrorism Act. The man arrested was connected to dissident activity, including a paramilitary-style assault in the city on 07 June.

Man Arrested In L'Derry
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in L'Derry. Officers from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation unit carried out a search at a property in connection with an ongoing on Wednesday, 04 November. A number of items were seized for further examination. The man was taken to be questioned, however he has now been released.
