Appeal After Racist Graffiti Appears In Cookstown

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses after criminal damage was caused to a number of buildings in the Cookstown area.

Graffiti has been noted in several areas, including James Street, Burn Road and Loy Street, and is being investigated as a racially-motivated hate crime.

Local policing Inspector Ross said: "I want to assure the public that we take all reports of hate crime extremely seriously. There is no place in our society for such behaviour.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 1255 of 27/05/24."

Polish Residents Attacked In Latest Hate Crime
Two Polish residents of east Belfast have become the latest victims of a spate of racist hate crimes in the city, after the living room window of their house on Templemore Avenue was smashed at 23:30 on Monday night. A man in his 20s and a woman in her 40s were in the house at the time.

Man And Woman Arrested Over North Belfast Hate Crime
Police have arrested a man and woman on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with an attack on a house in the Woodvale area of Belfast. A number of windows at the front of the house in Broom Street in the north of the city were smashed at about 20:40 on Monday night.

Man Arrested In Race Hate Crime Investigation
A 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a number of race hate related incidents South Belfast. The man was arrested on Saturday, 11 November, following a number of months of police investigations into hate crime related incidents against a local business owner in the Sandy Row area.
