Police Issue Fresh Appeal For Witnesses To Banbridge Shooting
A man shot in the abdomen in a Banbridge car park on Friday, 12 April, remains in a critical condition in hospital.
The man, aged in his 40s, was shot as he sat in a car by a masked man.
Detectives investigating a shooting in the Rathfriland Road area returned to the scene on the evening of Friday, 19 April. Police stopped vehicles and spoke to a number of people in the area in an attempt to identify any further witnesses..
The suspect is understood to have made off from the scene in a silver-coloured Peugeot vehicle, which was found burnt out a short time later in the Drone Hill Road area of Corbet.
To date, two men, aged 39 and 46, have been arrested in connection with the investigation. They have both since been bailed to allow for further enquiries to take place.
Detective Inspector Foley said: "We have also carried out subsequent searches in the Mullaghbawn and Banbridge areas where a number of items were seized. The most recent search was conducted in the Dromara area.
"Our investigation is continuing at pace and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or noticed anything suspicious, to make contact with police on 101, quoting reference number 1683 12/04/24.
"We would especially like to hear from anyone who may have any CCTV, dash-cam or mobile footage of what happened. This information could greatly help with our enquiries."
Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Man Escapes Injury After Shots Fired At Flat In West Belfast
A man has escaped injury after a number of shots were fired at a flat in west Belfast. The attack happened at a property in the Forfar Street area at around 10.30pm on Monday. A number of shots were fired through the front door of the flat and police said they are investigating a motive for the incident.

An investigation has been launched into a "paramilitary-style shooting" in the Ballymagroarty area of L'Derry in the early hours of Sunday morning. A 30-year-old man was shot in the ankles at around 03:30 on Sunday 15 May. Police have said that they believe paramilitaries are to blame for the shooting.

The PSNI have launched an investigation after a man was shot in both legs at Bog Meadows in the St James area of west Belfast. Police say the shooting happened at about 20:00 on Monday. The victim is being treated at Royal Victoria Hospital, where his condition is described as stable. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
