Around 8.30pm, it was reported that the fire station on the Comber Road had been broken into and a number of items stolen.

Following initial enquiries, it is believed that the break-in occurred between 5pm and 8.15pm. It was then discovered that vital equipment was stolen from a fire appliance.

Sergeant Regan said: "It's very disappointing that Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and local firefighters, who work tirelessly for their community, would be targeted in this way that leaves the community without potentially lifesaving equipment.
