Man Extradited From Poland To NI To Stand Trial For Alleged Child Sex Offences

A 59-year old man that has been extradited from Poland to Northern Ireland is to stand trial for sexual offences against children today, 31 January.

Officers from the PSNI's International Policing Unit extradited the man yesterday, 30 January, ahead of his expected appearance before Downpatrick Crown Court today.

It is alleged the suspected crimes took place in the Newtownards area of North Down between 2010 and 2012.

Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit said: "This demonstrates our commitment to work with International Law Enforcement partners to track down wanted persons and bring offenders to justice.

"Our message is clear to anyone who has left Northern Ireland to avoid arrest or the consequences of their actions. We will relentlessly pursue those that are trying to delay or deny justice to victims of crime."

Man Extradited By PSNI To Slovakia
