Police close to identifying burned body
Police say they are close to uncovering the identity of a man's body found badly burned in Co Londonderry at the weekend.
Today, detectives confirmed that relatives of a man who has been missing had contacted them. However, a motive for last weekend's murder has yet to be ascertained.
Police discovered the body at around teatime on Sunday at the back of a Masonic Hall at Linenhall Street in Limavady.
The body was so badly burned that a post mortem examination was needed to identify the sex of the victim. Police believe that a wheelie bin may have been used to move the body, which was discovered in a disused cattle market.
Police have been granted a court extension for a further 36 hours in order to question two men arrested in connection with the incident.
