NI recruiting confidence on the up
Employer hiring confidence in Northern Ireland continues to be positive for the third quarter of 2004.
According to a survey by Manpower, the UK's leading workforce management company, the balance of employers looking to take on more staff in Northern Ireland is up 20% compared to a UK average of 14%, an increase of three percentage points over the previous three months.
Greg Teare, Divisional Director for Manpower in Northern Ireland, said: "There's a sustained feeling of employer optimism in Northern Ireland. Work opportunities in the financial services sector are particularly strong at the moment and we are seeing growth in the call centre area, with both permanent and temporary positions available."
"We are seeing particular demand for experienced customer service operators. For example, one of our major contracts in Belfast has a number of call centre job opportunities all supported with full training; we are currently recruiting for them in the hundreds."
The Manpower Employment Outlook Survey provides a forecast of employer hiring intentions for the quarter ahead: July to September 2004. 2,500 UK employers were surveyed in the UK and over 35,000 employers in 19 countries globally.
