Norway Native And Sheepdog Claim World Title

After four days of competition in County Down, a Norway native and his dog have been crowned World Sheepdog Champions.

Petter Landfald and his dog Max went head-to-head with 16 of the world's best sheepdogs and handlers.

The competition, which took place in Gill Hall Estate in Dromore, involved 240 participants.

During the junior competition, Tyler McKinlay (17) from Lanark in Scotland and her dog, Heatherstane Squiggle, were named Young Handler World Champion.

It was recorded that this year was the first year that the trials had an all-female final in the junior competition.

Adlderman Margaret Tinsley, Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough said: "What a wonderful four-days it has been, huge congratulations to Petter and Tyler on becoming World Champions – this really is a remarkable achievement and I’m absolutely delighted for you both.

"Sincere thanks to the organisers on a hugely successful event. To all the competitors who have visited our borough over the past week, I hope everyone has enjoyed our rural countryside and this fabulous location at Gill Hall Estate. I wish all our international visitors a safe journey home and hope you will come back again to visit our beautiful borough."

One World Festival To Celebrate Derry And Strabane’s Diversity

At the One World Festival in Derry city centre this weekend, a photography collection from a wide range of cultures that call the North West home will be premiered.

Located inside in the Guildhall’s Main Hall, the exhibit will showcase portraits of individuals wearing attire from their background and holding something culturally significant to them.

There will also be a World of Workshops initiative where people can try India Saree tying, Polish and Latvian crafts and Chinese Dragon making.

The exhibit has been developed by Derry doctor, Mukesh Chugh with support from Gerry Temple, a Derry photographer.

Mukesh, a consultant anesthetist in Altnagelvin Hospital said: "I hope that by people being photographed with something of cultural importance to them or in their classic attire that it will promote their culture to the wider public and they will appreciate and respect the unity in diversity."

Good Relations Week Begins In Antrim And Newtownabbey

Local groups and organisations from across the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough are coming together to host a range of events as part of Good Relations Week 2023.

The cross-community and cultural events will take place from Monday 18 to Sunday 24 September.

Encouraging change and support within the community, the programme includes workshops, lectures, podcasts, storytelling, lectures and panel discussions.

Good Relations Week is co-ordinated by the Community Relations Council and supported by The Executive Office as part of the 'Together: Building a United Community strategy'.

Mark Cooper BEM, Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey said: "The Council is delighted to once again show support for Good Relations Week. It's wonderful to see local community groups and individuals coming together to celebrate diversity, inclusivity, and showcase how they are working together to build a sustained and shared future in our communities.
