Ulster Rugby Launches New Foundation
A new initiative to inspire lifelong participation in rugby across NI has been announced by Ulster Rugby.
Set to have a lasting and positive impact on the lives of those involved in rugby in Ulster, the Ulster Rugby Foundation will drive forward a community game in the province which welcomes people of all ages and abilities.
Fundraising for the newly-established Foundation was kick-started at the club's Gala Dinner on Thursday 17 August, with the money raised going directly towards promoting participation and providing playing opportunities in the amateur game across Ulster.
With the benefits of the game including improved mental and physical health; the development of teamwork and resilience skills; enhanced educational and employment opportunities; and a sense of community and belonging, the promotion of the game through the Foundation will be built around three key pillars:
• CLUBS: Rugby clubs are the lifeblood of the game in Ulster, and the Ulster Rugby Foundation will work to ensure that our clubs are resilient, sustainable, and provide high-quality rugby opportunities for all of our community.
• PEOPLE: Players, coaches, and volunteers are the heartbeat of our sport. Through the Foundation, we will support the development of coaches and referees, celebrate volunteers, and promote positive rugby experiences.
• PARTICIPATION: The Ulster Rugby Foundation will provide more opportunities to take part in rugby, with the aim of growing the game and delivering social impact through rugby participation.
The Ulster Rugby Foundation will work alongside clubs, schools, charities, local authorities and government departments.
Ulster Rugby CEO, Jonny Petrie added: "We witness first-hand at Ulster Rugby how our sport, through the domestic game, has a positive impact on the lives of players, coaches, and volunteers across the province. The Ulster Rugby Foundation will make rugby accessible to more people in Ulster, and bring about countless benefits for the wellbeing of all of our community. Thank-you to our sponsors, partners, and the local businesses that gave generously at the launch at our Gala Dinner. It's encouraging they can also see the potential of what the Foundation and its activities will offer to those it's set to support."

Paddy Jackson's And Stuart Olding's Contracts Revoked
The contracts of Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding have been revoked with "immediate effect" by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and Ulster Rugby. Last month, the two rugby players were unanimously acquitted of raping a woman at a house in south Belfast in June 2016.

Three Ulster Rugby players have been named in the British & Irish Lions squad. Rory Best, Iain Henderson and Jared Payne have been included in the squad who are to tour New Zealand this summer. The trio are among 11 Ireland players selected by Lions Head Coach Warren Gatland.

'Nevin Spence Centre' Planned For Ravenhill
A new education and heritage centre being built at Ulster Rugby's Ravenhill stadium is to be named after the late Nevin Spence, who died in a farming accident along with his brother Graham and father Noel in September last year. The centre is part of a £14.7m redevelopment of the ground and will be called 'The Nevin Spence Centre'.
