Man Arrested Following Investigation Linked To PSNI Data Breach

A man has been arrested as part of an investigation linked to a major PSNI data breach.

The 39-year-old has been detained after he was arrested following a search in Lurgan, Co Armagh.

He was arrested on suspicion of of collection of information likely to be of use to terrorists.

Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Hill said: "We are working tirelessly to address the risk posed to officers and staff.

"Today's search operation, and subsequent arrest, is just one piece of a large-scale operation.

"We will continue in our efforts to disrupt criminal activity associated with this Freedom of Information data breach and to keep communities, and our officers and staff who serve them, safe."

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

PSNI Chief Constable Simon Byrne has issued an apology for the "unprecedented and industrial scale data breach". The Chief Constable and members of the PSNI's Service Executive Team met with the Northern Ireland Policing Board to discuss the recent data breach.
