Bank Of Ireland Apologises Over Technical Fault
Bank of Ireland has issued an apology after some consumers withdrew or transferred more money that what was not in their accounts.
The bank said its app and online services are now working again and any transfers or withdrawals will appear in their accounts throughout the day.
Large queues developed at the bank’s ATM’s on Tuesday and posts on social media urged people to withdraw cash despite not having funds in their accounts.
In a statement the bank said: "A technical issue impacted a number of Bank of Ireland's services.
"Our teams restored these services overnight and all services are available to customers this morning. Overnight payments to accounts may appear throughout the day.
"We are aware that the technical issue meant some customers were able to withdraw or transfer funds above their normal limits.
"These transfers and withdrawals will be applied to customers’ accounts today. We urge any customer who may find themselves in financial difficulty due to overdrawing on their account to contact us.
"We sincerely apologise for the disruption this outage caused – we know we fell far below the standards our customers expect from us."

Public spending watchdog criticises pathology services
The Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee has criticised hospital laboratory services in Northern Ireland for providing “poor value for money”. The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) who launched their report on pathology services highlighted a number of areas, specifically staff shortages that in their opinion needed immediate redress.

PSNI detectives investigating the activities of an organised crime group based in the Lurgan, Portadown and Craigavon areas have been granted an Account Freezing Order, to freeze two bank accounts containing a combined total of £272,477.

The resignation came amidst the Sinn Fein Covid cash scandal where £30,000 in support payments had been received almost seven months ago but only paid back to the public purse this week.
