UK Space Conference 2023 Announced For ICC Belfast
The UK Space Conference 2023, a significant biennial event for the UK space sector, will be held in the ICC Belfast, from 21-23 November, 2023.
The event unites the UK and international space communities, across government, industry, and academia.
The conference provides a platform for the space sector to exchange ideas, plan and engage, and build partnerships that encourage development and success.
The theme for the 2023 conference is SPACE FOR OUR FUTURE. Sitting under this headline theme are three tracks titled: DISCOVER, GROW and SECURE.
The conference will consist of:
• Plenary sessions
• Breakout track sessions
• Spotlight Stage short talks
• Roundtables, policy meetings
• Extensive networking opportunities – including a networking evening and a gala dinner
• Feature areas – including Innovation Zone, Poster Zone, Small Business Zone, Regional Zone and Meeting Hub

New Space Propulsion Firm Opens In Belfast
First Minister Peter Robinson has officially opened European Space Propulsion Ltd's (ESP) offices in Belfast. The move will create eight new senior positions as well as sustain a further 40 posts at the Thales UK facility in Castlereagh.

Work Begins On West Belfast Shared Space
Work is underway at the site of a £5 million park project in west Belfast. The transformational Stewartstown Road facility will be a shared space for residents and visitors when it reaches completion next spring. It will include a play park, teen space, pump track, event space, environmental learning zone and wetland habitat.

QUB Astronomers Assist Comet Landing
Astronomers at Queen’s University Belfast are currently assisting the first ever landing by a spacecraft on an icy comet. At 08:35 this morning, a robotic lander called Philae was released from the European Space Agency Rosetta spacecraft and is currently decending to the comet.

QUB Joins NASA In Solar Flares Research
Queen's University Belfast has joined forces with NASA and the Astrophysics Research Centre (ARC) to investigate solar flares and their potential to cause disruption on Earth. Solar flares for the sun result in significant increases in ultra-violet radiation, which can cause solar storms and disrupt radio communication and GPS.
