Appeal For Information On Acid Attack In East Belfast

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following serious assault and suspected acid attack in east Belfast.

According to police, the victim, a man aged in his 20s, was driving in the Sunwich Street area at approximately 6.30pm on Saturday, 05 August, when he became aware that he was being followed by another vehicle.

When the victim stopped his car, a number of people got out of the second vehicle and one of the suspects threw a suspected corrosive liquid over the man.

Damage was also caused to the victim's car when one of the suspects smashed the rear window with a blunt object. The suspects then fled the scene.

Detective Inspector Angus said: "Colleagues from other emergency services attended and provided medical treatment to the man.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment to burns sustained on his upper body and face and remains in a serious condition at this time.

"Our investigation is underway to determine who was involved and a motive behind this attack.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything, or who may have dash-cam, CCTV or other video footage, to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1354 of 05/08/23."

PSNI Appeal For Information After Cars Set Alight In North Belfast
The PSNI have appealed for information after four cars were set alight in north Belfast. Police say the suspected arson attack happened at around 22:30 on Tuesday night on the Whitewell Road. It is understood no one was injured in the incidents.

Police appeal following stabbing in south Belfast
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in south Belfast. The 19-year-old victim was walking along Carmel Street at around 8.45pm when a man approached him and tried to steal his phone. The attacker, who was wielding a large knife, then stabbed the man in the chest. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Appeal For Information On Suspected Arson Attack
The PSNI in Newtownards have issued an appeal for information following a suspected arson attack at a workshop in the town. Eleven vehicles were extensively damaged in a fire at the workshop on the Glenburn Road area, which was reported to emergency service at around 21:45 on Wednesday 01 March.

Police Appeal Following Suspected Arson Attack In L'Derry
Police have launched an investigation following a suspected arson attack in L'Derry. The incident occurred in the Liscloon Drive area on Saturday. A passing police patrol noticed a fire at a shed at around 6.30am. The Fire Service were alerted and put the blaze out.
