Appeal Issued After Petrol Bomb Thrown At House In Holywood
Police are appealing for information after a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in Holywood, Co Down.
The incident happened in the East Link area at around 12.30am on Wednesday, 26 July.
Sergeant Fenton said: "A report was received at around 12.30am that a petrol bomb had been thrown at a house in the East Link area, and had struck a lamp post.
"Officers attended together with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, who extinguished the fire. No damage was caused to the property, and thankfully, there were no reports of any injuries.
"Our enquiries are ongoing, and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious activity, or who has any information which may assist, to get in touch."
"I am shocked and condemn this incident without hesitation. This is an attack on the local community. I want to thank the emergency services who responded to this," said Alliance MLA Andrew Muir.
"I condemn the incident this morning in the strongest terms. There in no place in society for the use of violence and the petrol bombing of homes. This incident shows a clear lack of respect for the rule of law and for everyone who lives within the area. I will be raising the incident with senior police officers who we plan to meet within the next couple of days."
