Man Arrested In Connection With Suspected Arson In Limavady
A 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack at a block of flats in Limavady.
At around 3.30am on Thursday, 20 July, police received a report that an oil tank at the block in the Glenview Drive area was on fire.
A number of occupants of the flats were evacuated as Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Detective Inspector Lavery said: "We are treating this report as arson endangering life and are grateful to our colleagues in the Fire Service for tackling this fire which could have had extremely serious consequences for those affected.
"Officers have since arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of arson endangering life with intent. He remains in custody at this time.
"Our enquiries are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone who may be able to assist with our investigation to contact us, quoting reference 194 20/07/23."

The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fire at a church and church hall in Greenisland last night, Sunday 1st September. At approximately 9.10pm, police received a report of a fire at the property on the Station Road. Police and the Northern Ireland Fire Service attended and the blaze was extinguished.

PSNI Detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of arson at the Dunraven Court area of east Belfast on Monday 26th August. Detective Sergeant Kitchen said: "Shortly after 3:35am, it was reported that a white Mercedes CLA and a silver Volkswagen Tiguan were set alight.
