Seven Men Charged Over Attempted Murder Of DCI Caldwell
Seven men have been charged in connection with the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell.
Detectives from the Major Investigation Team have charged all seven men – two aged 28 and five aged 33, 38, 45, 47 and 72 – with attempted murder. Two of the men, aged 38 and 45, have also been charged with membership of a proscribed organisation, namely the IRA. And three of the men, aged 28, 33 and 47, have been charged with preparation of terrorist acts.
All seven appeared before Dungannon Magistrates Court via video link.
As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Officer injured in hammer assault
A police officer has been injured after being struck with a hammer in Co Armagh at the weekend. The incident occurred after officers were called to the Thomas Street area of Portadown on Sunday after a Portuguese man reported damage to his car. When officers arrived they saw a man being assaulted in a separate incident nearby.

Lawyer considers client's 'overexposure'
The lawyer of a senior north Belfast loyalist has warned that he may report the Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Orde, and an unnamed Sunday newspaper editor to the Attorney General for over exposure of his client. Ihab Shoukri, from Alliance Road, was today remanded on continuing bail charged two counts of being a member of the UDA/UFF.

Appeal For Information On Aggravated Burglary In Cookstown
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a report of an aggravated burglary at the Queens Avenue area of Cookstown on Friday 3rd February. Shortly after 10pm, it was reported that four masked men entered a property in the area with one of the men armed with an iron bar and another man armed with a suspected firearm.

Kilrea man shot in front of family
A 26-year-old man has been shot in front of his family in a paramilitary-style attack in County Londonderry. The man is in hospital after being shot in both ankles by an armed gang of four men who forced their way into his Kilrea home on Monday, February 11. Three of the men were armed with iron bars, the fourth with a gun.
