Children involved in Westlink stone throwing

Police have called on parents to keep a closer eye on their children following an incident when youngsters between 10 and 12 years-old threw stones at motorists on a busy Belfast road on Tuesday.

Two people were hurt and around 20 vehicles damaged on a stretch of the Westlink by children thowing stones at passing vehicles.

One driver suffered cuts to his back after a stone was thrown through a side window of his truck. Shortly afterwards a woman sustained cuts to her face, arms and legs after a brick was thrown through the side window of her car.

The Westlink between Grosvenor Road and Broadway was closed for a time following the incidents.

Road Reopens Following Westlink Crash
Traffic is moving freely again following a five-car collision on the Westlink on Monday afternoon, 13 February. The crash, which involved five vehicles, occurred at the M2 bound Divis Street on-slip. The road was closed to traffic coming from Divis Street. The accident has since been cleared and the road has re-opened.

Two seriously hurt as stolen car collides with van
Two people have been injured following a serious road traffic collision in Belfast this morning. The incident occurred on the Westlink when a stolen car that was being followed by police and which was travelling in the wrong direction on one of the carrigaeways, collided with a white van at about 4.20am.

Attack on train driver condemned
A train driver has been injured after a being struck by a brick on a railway line in County Down. The brick was thrown through the window of his train at Marino Halt on the Bangor side of Holywood around 8.30pm on Monday, January 7. The driver was taken to Belfast City Hospital with extensive cuts to his face.

Westlink Reopens Following Alert
The Westlink has reopened following an earlier security alert, police have said. Earlier this morning, a suspicious object was found in the Cullingtree Road area. The discovery caused a two-mile section of the road in Belfast to close in both directions and an army bomb squad was sent to the scene.
