Spirit AeroSystems Belfast Announces Job Fair
Spirit AeroSystems Belfast (Spirit) has announced a job fair on Saturday, 20 May, in an effort to fill more than 100 vacancies.
The hiring event will be at the Spirit's facility on Doagh Road, Newtownabbey, and will run from 10am to 3pm.
With an expansion of its operations in Belfast Spirit requires more than 100 new skilled production fitters.
Ciara Kennedy, Spirit's site leader, said: "We need talented people to help build the future of aviation. Our commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workforce is unwavering, and we look forward to welcoming new team members who share our passion for excellence."
Kennedy said that Spirit will provide training at the company's skills centers for qualified applicants who are hired but do not have aerospace experience. She said there is the potential for immediate job offers at the career fair.
Spirit offers regional and industry-leading pay and benefits:
• Base pay rates for these positions start at £28,500 rising to £31,200
• Generous shift premiums and overtime rates apply
• 36-hour workweek with early finish on Fridays
• Generous holidays – 260 hours on an annual basis
• DC Pension Scheme
• Death in Service
• Non-contractual Occupational Sick Scheme
• On site Occupational Health Department
• Employee Assistant Programme (Inspire)
• Free car parking.
Kennedy continued: "Spirit is committed to the growth of our Belfast site. Over the last year, Spirit Belfast has grown by over 500 people. We are also benefitting from the recovery in the airline industry with passenger levels back at pre-COVID levels and production rates up over 20% in 2022 and we expect to do the same in 2023."

Tourism NI Launches Giant Spirit Awards
A new awards programme aimed at showcasing and rewarding best in class in the tourism and hospitality industry has been launched by Tourism NI. Renamed The Giant Spirit Awards, the event will build on the successful legacy of the Northern Ireland Tourism Awards which ran for over forty years until 2019.

A "New Icon" For Belfast City
A new public sculpture called the 'Spirit of Belfast' was unveiled yesterday by Margaret Ritchie, the Social Development Minister. The artwork is located at Cornmarket, Arthur Square, replacing the old bandstand. "It is a new iconic landmark for our capital city.

QFT Announces A Ghostly October
The best way to celebrate Hallowe'en is to scare the absolute bejaysus out of ourselves, and facilitating that task this month will be the Queen's Film Theatre (QFT). Apparitions: The Spectral Screen is a season of spooky cinematic greats playing from Saturday 22 to Thursday 27 October, as part of the Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen's.
