Invest NI to hold week-long 'innovation' event
A week-long programme of information, innovation and inspiration for entrepreneurs and business people in the northwest, is to kick off next Tuesday.
The Go For It Start A Business Week, which coincides with UK Business Week, has been organised by Invest Northern Ireland, and will feature a variety of events culminating in a two day Start a Business Show.
The show, which will be held at the Millennium Forum in Londonderry, is expected to attract well over 1,000 visitors.
The aim of the Go For It Week is to encourage local people to consider starting a business and to highlight the wide range of help available. It will also offer networking opportunities for business people and those interested in starting a business.
Kevin Helferty, manager of Invest NI’s northwest local office said: “Helping local businesses to grow, and increasing the number and quality of business starts in the area, are two of our key priorities. The Go For It Week is an opportunity to focus on the needs of small businesses in particular, and to announce some measures that we are putting in place to support their growth."
During the week new programmes and initiatives to promote entrepreneurship in the northwest will be announced.
A series of workshops given by Edward de Bono, the revolutionary thinker and management guru, will inspire audiences ranging from schoolchildren to local media and business people, to think innovatively and creatively.
The Go For It Week supports Invest NI’s North West Action Plan, which aims to strengthen the economy in the region by addressing specific economic development issues. The Plan involves Invest NI working in partnership with businesses, councils and other stakeholders throughout the region.

Green Light For Business Park In Crumlin
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has said planning approval has been recommended for a business park near Crumlin. The plans are for 23 small business units and 2,000 square metres of floor-space and would be located on part of a former World War Two Air Force camp site which is associated with the Langford Lodge airfield.
