Appeal For Information On Series Of Burglaries In Ballymena
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following reports of a number of burglaries in Ballymena overnight.
Police have said that sometime between 8pm on Monday 30th January and shortly after 3:40am on Tuesday 31st January, it was reported that entry was gained to a commercial premises in the Mill Street area. It was reported that a sum of money was taken during the incident.
Sergeant McIvor said: "Shortly before 4:10am on Tuesday 31st January, it was reported that entry was gained to a property at the Trostan Avenue area of the town but at this time, nothing is believed to have been taken.
"We received a report shortly after 5:25am on Tuesday 31st January that entry had been gained to another commercial premises located at the Mill Street area. It was believed that a sum of money was also taken during the incident.
"Another report was received by police just after 8am on Tuesday 31st January, that entry had been gained to a commercial premises located at the Larne Road Link area sometime between 3:40am and 3:45am. At this time, it is not believed that anything was taken during the incident, but damage was caused to plasterboard wall.
"Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, we are investigating a link between these incidents.
"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 206 31/01/23. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

County Down Security Alert Declared A Hoax
A security alert in Ballynahinch, County Down, has been declared a hoax. Police and Army bomb experts were called to the Riverview Heights area following reports of a suspicious object at around 8pm on Thursday 24 January. A number of homes were evacuated while the object was examined.

Large Gorse Fire Ongoing In Newcastle
Firefighters are tackling an ongoing large gorse fire in Newcastle. According to reports, eight fire engines and almost 50 firefighters are at the scene in the Drinahilly Mountain area near Tollymore Forest Park. It is understood that some 10 acres of gorse are affected by the fire. Specialist wildfire officers are also at the scene.

Murder inquiry launched after Markets body find
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat in the Markets area of Belfast. Neighbours found the body in an upstairs flat in Friendly Place at 7.45am on Monday. Police believe the 38-year-old man had been beaten. Two men have been arrested by detectives and are helping them with their inquiries.
