24-Year-Old Jailed For Actual Bodily Harm

The PSNI have welcomed the sentencing of a 24-year-old man, from the Randalstown area. at Antrim Crown Court for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Tony McNally will serve 10.5 months in custody and 10.5 months on licence.

Detective Chief Inspector Kerry Brennan said: "McNally physically attacked this young woman, resulting in head injuries and leaving her traumatised.

"I would like to commend her bravery working with us and assisting our investigation.

"Our message would be to anyone who has been subjected to violence, abuse or intimidation of any kind to please come forward and report to Police by calling 101, or in an emergency call 999."

Acheson & Glover Precast Ltd Enters Into Administration
Over 100 jobs are at risk at Acheson & Glover Precast Limited after the firm has been placed into administration. The building firm currently employs 105 people and 20 of the jobs are in Great Britain with the remainder at Ballygawley in Co Tyrone. The Group's other trading company, Acheson & Glover Limited will not be affected.

Abuse Inquiry Announces Deadline
The Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry, set up to investigate the abuse of children and young people in institutions across Northern Ireland between 1922 and 1995, has announced a cutoff deadline for applications of Wednesday 30 April at 17:00. Chairman Sir Anthony Hart made the announcement this morning.

Man remanded in custody after 105 burgalries
A man has appeared in court today in Belfast in connection with 105 burglaries across Northern Ireland. James Meneely, 38, from Rogan Manor in the city was arrested by police officers investigating the burglaries in Belfast, Newcastle and Coleraine. The charges relate to mainly private houses. He was remanded in custody until later in April.

105-year-old woman forced from home following attack
Police are appealing for information after a 105-year-old woman was forced from her home last night in what police suspect may have been a sectarian attack. The woman was sleeping in a downstairs room, which has been converted into a bedroom, when four bricks were used to smash two windows at the property in the Oldpark area of north Belfast.

High Winds Expected As Storm Lorenzo Reaches NI
Traffic disruption is expected this afternoon as Storm Lorenzo batters Northern Ireland. Winds are set to pick up at around 3pm on Thursday, with a yellow weather warning in place throughout the evening. "A spell of strong south-easterly winds may bring some transport disruption later on Thursday," the Met Office said.
