Arrests And Seizures Made In East Belfast Operation

Two arrests have been made and a number of items seized in an operation by the PSNI's Paramilitary Crime Task Force, investigating criminality associated with the East Belfast UVF.

A 45-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A and B controlled drugs and possession of class A and B controlled drugs with intent to supply and both remain in custody at this time. Quantities of suspected cocaine and cannabis with a total estimated street value of over £6,000 were recovered along with drug-related paraphernalia. Among the items seized included paramilitary emblems, flags, badges, a baton and a number of mobile phones.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly said: "This operation is part of our ongoing proactive investigation into the criminality of East Belfast UVF and demonstrates our commitment to listening to local communities and acting on what they tell us.

Two Men Charged Following East Belfast Drug Arrests
Two men have been charged in connection with a drug operation in East Belfast. PSNI officers arrested two men at about 12:30pm on Monday, 04 July in the Beersbridge Road area of East Belfast in an operation which also lead to the seizure of a quantity of heroin and a sum of cash.

Arrests Follow East Belfast Assault
Three people have been arrested after a 43-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were attacked at a house in east Belfast. East Belfast Alliance Councillor Máire Hendron has condemned those involved and said: "This was a brutal attack and my thoughts are very much with the man and the woman who were subjected to this sickening ordeal.

Four Men Arrested In Connection With Lyra McKee Murder
Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee. Ms McKee was fatally shot as she observed rioting in L'Derry in April 2019. She was 29 years old. Police investigating her death have arrested four men, aged 19, 20, 21 and 33, under the Terrorism Act.
