Police rescue man from flat fire
A 40-year-old man has been taken to hospital following a fire at a flat in Magherafelt.
The alarm was raised shortly after 10pm on Thursday when a fire was spotted inside the flat at Queen Street.
When police arrived at the scene an officer spotted smoke coming from under the door.
The owner of the flat was found lying on the settee but was dragged to safety by the officer, with the assistance of a colleague.
The victim was immediately treated for smoke inhalation.

Couple escape injury in flat fire
A couple have escaped injury after their flat caught fire in north Belfast last night. The fire, which occurred at around 10pm at the flat in Fianna House in the New Lodge area of the city, was spotted by a woman from her home in Little George's Street, half a mile away.

Two overcome by smoke in flat
Two people have been rescued following a fire in a block of flats in south Belfast late on Sunday night. Fire fighters called to the scene at around 11pm on Sunday evening found a man and a woman in the first floor flat at Russell Court. The two people overcome by smoke were found in the living room of the flat.
