Co Derry rail victim named
More details have emerged about yesterday's train crash in Co Londonderry which left a pensioner dead.
Jean Irwin, who was in her 70s, died after her car was hit by an oncoming train at an unmanned railway crossing near Limavady, shortly after 1pm on Tuesday.
Although the Derry to Coleraine train, which was travelling at around 70mph, and was derailed as a result of the collision none of the 34 passengers on board were uninjured.
Rail operator, Translink confirmed that a full investigation was underway but maintained that the crossing had received a full risk assessment in March following concerns from local residents.
Damage to the track at the scene of the crash has led to the closure of the line and a substitution bus service is currently in operation between Coleraine and Londonderry.

Man Killed In Train Collision Is Named
The man killed in a train collision in Londonderry yesterday has been named as James Craig. Mr Craig, 70, died when his tractor collided with a train at an unnamed crossing near Limavady on Thursday afternoon. The driver of the train informed passengers of the collision after some of them reported hearing a loud bang and seeing smoke and sparks.

Two arrested following train crash
Two men have been arrested in connection with a train crash in Co Antrim on Monday. The incident saw a train crash into a car which was deliberately abandoned at a level crossing close to the town of Dunloy at about 10.30pm.
