Teenager charged with attempted murder

A teenager has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a man in Co Antrim at the weekend.

Shaun Ferguson, 18, of no fixed address, was also charged with having a knife during the incident which occurred outside a Chinese takeaway in Portglenone in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was remanded in custody until 3 June, while the injured party has since been released from hospital.

Elsewhere, a 19-year-old man charged in connection with a stabbing in Larne on Sunday. The man, who was due to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday, is charged with malicious wounding, possession of an offensive weapon, making a threat to kill and criminal damage. The charges relate to an incident in the Circular Road area of Larne at about 1am on Sunday.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. The victim, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition after being assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. The suspect is due to appear at Coleraine Magistrates' Court on Monday, 17 October.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder Dies In Custody
A man charged with attempted murder has died in custody. 42-year-old James Carlisle, from the Harbour Road in Kilkeel, was due to appear in court next week. It is understood his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A 44-year-old Armagh man has appeared in court in connection with two counts of attempted murder. Colm Joseph McGurk, of Lower English Street, appeared before Newry Magistrates’ Court accused of the attempted murder of Patrick and Eisha McGurk on Saturday.

A 58-year-old unemployed man has been charged with the murder of Castlederg teenager Arlene Arkinson who disappeared eight years ago. Appearing before Enniskillen Magistrates’ court on Friday, Robert Howard, who is originally from southern Ireland gave his address as Belmarsh Prison in England.

Man questioned over pub shooting released
Detectives investigating a shooting outside a bar in Belfast have released a second man who was questioned over the attack. The incident occurred at around 1am on Friday 11 May, when a man fired a number of shots at the door of Fibber Magee’s in Blackstaff Square.
