Man Arrested For Assaulting Four Police Officers

A man has been arrested after four police officers were assaulted in Ballanaleck last night, Thursday 1st September.

Shortly after 8.20pm police received a report that a man in his 50s had been assaulted in the Mallard Heights area. Upon police arrival, a male, aged 24, was located as the suspect. As police attempted to arrest the man he became aggressive and grabbed a police officer by the neck. He was then arrested for assault on police and resisting arrest.

While in the police vehicle he kicked a second officer and head-butted a third. Upon arrival at custody the male also spat on a fourth officer.

He was then further arrested for further assault on police and remains in police custody at this time.

The investigation is continuing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch by calling 101, and quoting reference number 1776 of 01/09/22.

Man Arrested For Assaulting Three Police Officers
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after three police officers were assaulted as they responded to an incident in south Belfast. The officers were attending the scene of an altercation in the Botanic Avenue area at around 11:40 pm on Thursday, 06 July.

Man questioned following arms find in Coalisland
A 42-year-old man has been taken in for questioning following a series of searches in Coalisland in County Tyrone which uncovered firearms and a sum of money. The cache is thought to be connected to dissident republican activity.

Teenager Arrested After Murder In County Down
Police are treating the death of a man following an assault in County Down over the weekend as murder. The 32-year-old was attacked in Portaferry, shortly after midnight on Sunday. It is believed the victim was from Killyleagh. A 19-year-old has been arrested and taken to Musgrave police station in Belfast for questioning on suspicion of murder.

Man Arrested Under Terrorism Act
A man has been arrested under the Terrorism Act in Co Tyrone. The 34-year-old was detained in the Coalisland area on Tuesday, 19 June. He is currently in custody at Musgrave police station. The arrest is in relation to a weapons and ammunition find at a garage in the Mountjoy Road in 2011.
