Alliance Calls For Review Of Speed Limit Following Death
Alliance have called for a review into the speed limit on the Portaferry Road in Newtownards, following the death of a motorcyclist on Thursday 28 July.
Making the call, Alliance MLA Kellie Armstrong, said: "Given the number of collisions and crashes, there needs to be a review of road speed at the Newtownards end of the Portaferry Road near Teal Rocks.
"I believe the criteria has been met to reduce the speed limit and for further physical changes to increase driver awareness that could literally help to save lives.
"This is just the latest of many life-altering and fatal crashes to occur at this location. It highlights the urgent need for the Department for Infrastructure to step up before anymore lives are lost."
