NI Women's Football Team Take On Norway In UEFA Women's Euro 2022
Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey has wished the Northern Ireland women's football team every success in the UEFA Women's Euro 2022.
The team takes on Norway today, 7th July, Austria on 11th July and England on 15th July at St Mary's Stadium in Southampton.
Deirdre Hargey said: "The footballers have been training hard for this tournament and I wish them all the best in their European Championship matches. Their success in getting this far in a major international competition is evidence of their strength, determination and commitment.
"The eyes of the world will be on them, as well as those of all aspiring footballers hoping to follow in their footsteps. They are an inspiration and a role model to young people and their drive will help promote participation in football and sport in the years to come."
In March the Minister attended a training session of the women's international football team, where she announced funding of £100,000 to help promote female sport through football. The IFA received the funding to support a range of initiatives associated with the women's team qualifying for the European Championship Finals in 2022.
