Man beaten with golf club in restaurant

Police are appealing for information after a shop assistant was attacked in a fast food restaurant in west Belfast last night.

The incident occurred at a kebab takeaway restaurant on the Springfield Road at around 10pm.

It is believed the attacker had been in the restaurant earlier in the evening and was told to leave after causing trouble. However, he later returned and head-butted his victim before beating him with a golf club.

The man was immediately taken to hospital for treatment on his injuries.

Police have not ruled out a racial motive for the attack.
