Elderly Woman Injured In Street Robbery In Belfast
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a report of an attempted robbery in the Great Victoria Street area of Belfast city centre on Thursday, May 12.
It was reported that around 10:25pm a woman, aged in her eighties, had been walking down the street when an unknown male ran past her and attempted to pull her handbag out of her arms.
The victim held on to her bag before the suspect forcefully pulled her to the ground, causing her to hit her head on a black metal bollard. She was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
The suspect ran off along Great Victoria Street, in the direction of the city centre.
He is described as being approximately 5'10" in height and was wearing a dark navy jacket with a blue upper panel and hood, dark tracksuit bottoms and grey trainers.
Sergeant Matt Boucher said: "This was a terrifying experience for the victim, who sustained a serious head injury as a result.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything, or who may have dashcam or other footage, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1813 of 12/5/22."

Road Works To Get Started In Belfast
The Department for Regional Development will start work on a number of junction improvements in Belfast city centre next week. The improvements on Grosvenor Road/Durham Street and Hope Street/Great Victoria Street are part of the Belfast On The Move Transport Masterplan which will give higher priority to public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.

Police used CS Spray to restrain Gerard McMahon during a "violent incident" in the Great Victoria Street area on Thursday, 08 September. Police Ombudsman investigators have renewed their appeal for anyone who saw what happened to contact them.

Man's body found in Belfast
A man's body has been found in Belfast city centre on Wednesday. The body was found at Fulton Street, near the city centre shortly before 9am. It was immediately reported to police who have cordoned off the area. There are no further details at present.
