Ongoing Gorse Fire On Cave Hill
A number of firefighters remain at the scene of an ongoing gorse fire on Cave Hill in north Belfast, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) has reported.
The NIFRS responded to reports of the wildfire on Wednesday evening. NIFRS said that firefighters were continuing to monitor the fire, with specialist wildfire officers and a drone deployed for the operation.
The public are being urged to continue to avoid the area and nearby residents have been advised to continue to keep their doors and windows closed.

NI's Chief Fire Officer Announces His Retirement
The Chief Fire Officer for Northern Ireland, Peter Craig, has announced that he is to retire after over 35 years of distinguished Service. Peter Craig is one of the longest serving officers in Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service and was appointed as Chief Fire Officer in February 2011, having been the acting Chief from July 2010.

Firefighters Continue To Battle Mourne Mountains Wildfire
Eight appliances and more than 50 firefighter remain at the scene of a wildfire near Bloody Bridge in the Mourne Mountains. The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) worked through yesterday evening and into this morning to respond to a surge in emergency calls across Northern Ireland, including numerous wildfires.

Permanent Secretary of the Department of Health, Peter May, has given his thanks to the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) for their response to recent wildfires. The Permanent Secretary thanked NIFRS while on a visit to Ballymena Fire Station.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.
