PCR Testing Centres To Close
Northern Ireland's PCR testing centres will close at the end of operations today, Friday 22 April.
With the closure of testing site, PCR tests will no longer be freely available to most people, while Lateral flow tests (LFTs) will continue to be free for people displaying Covid-19 symptoms, those visiting high-risk settings and those providing close personal care.
Northern Ireland's deputy chief medical officer, Dr Lourda Geoghegan, highlighted that testing was not ending, it is being transitioned "to a more targeted and more focused approach".
Dr Geoghegan also said that the Department of Health could be "ramped up again" if needed.
