Child Seen Walking In Castlewellan Around 5am

Police are investigating reports of a child seen walking alone in Castlewellan in the hours of this morning.

According to police, the young child, believed to be a girl, was seen walking on the town's Main Street, on the footpath near the entrance to the forest park, at about 4:55am. It is understood that police examined CCTV footage that showed that the child did not enter the park but continued walking towards the town centre.

The child is said to have been wearing a light purple coat and pink trousers.

PSNI Insp Conway said: "We are very concerned for the welfare of this child and would appeal to anyone with information to contact us urgently on 101 quoting 181 30/03/22."

Two Men Arrested Over Historical Child Sexual Abuse
Detectives have arrested two men as part of an investigation into allegations of serious historical child sexual abuse. Officers from the PSNI's Public Prosecution branch arrested the two suspects, aged 60 and 67, on Thursday, 08 March. The men were detained in Newtownards and Ardglass. New Walking Trails Open On Shores Of Strangford Lough
New walking trails have officially opened on the shores of Strangford Lough in Co Down. The National Trust bought land for £4 million as part of a restoration project at Mount Stewart. Three miles of new walking trails have now opened for visitors to explore 'archaeological wonders'.
