Teachers' Council Rejects Pay Offer
Education Minister Michelle McIlveen has said that she is disappointed with a lack of progress in negotiations after the Northern Ireland Teachers' Council (NITC) has rejected a formal offer on teachers' pay.
The Minister said: "I am disappointed that the Northern Ireland Teachers' Council (NITC) have rejected the pay offer that was made to them last week.
"Management Side had offered a two-year pay deal worth 3.2% from 1 September 2021. The pay award would have seen the removal of the bottom point of the current teachers' pay scale and the addition of a further point at the top of the scale, with a similar approach applied to each of the pay ranges for school leaders."
In conclusion, the Minister said: "This pay offer had been made despite a very difficult financial situation and I had hoped that this would have led to a completion of the pay negotiations for 2021/22 and 2022/23 during the current mandate. Management Side will now take time to consider how the matter should be progressed before engaging again with NITC."

Education Minister Welcomes Progress On Teacher's Pay
Education Minister, Paul Givan, has welcomed further progress on a pay settlement for teachers following the Department of Finance's approval of the pay award. All five recognised teachers' unions (INTO, NAHT, NASUWT, NEU, UTU) have signalled their acceptance of the teachers' pay offer for 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24.

NASUWT Rejects Pay Offer
NI's largest teachers' union has rejected a pay offer for teachers and principals. The offer to the NASUWT was made by the management side of the Teachers Negotiating Committee (TNC). The offer continues the year-on-year cuts to teachers' pay. The NASUWT is calling for an across the board above inflation cost of living award.

MLA's call for new firefighters pay scheme
Two UUP MLA's have called on the Northern Ireland Executive to implement a new pay scheme for Ulster's firefighters. North Antrim UUP MLA the Rev Robert Coulter called for the introduction of a new pay formula in a motion to the Assembly on Monday. Mr Coulter said he hoped it would help achieve a real remedy to the question of firefighter’s pay.
