Heavy Rain And Very Strong Winds Forecast Across NI

The Met Office have warned of heavy rain and very strong winds across Northern Ireland today, Wednesday 16 February, as Storm Dubley moves across the country.

Two weather warnings are in place – a Yellow warning for wind from 1pm and Amder warning for wind from 2pm.

The Met Office said that Storm Dudley will bring a spell of very strong winds and possible disruption later today and into the early hours of Thursday

What to expect:

• Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible, as well as some roads and bridges may close

• Damage to trees and buildings is possible

• Power cuts may occur

• Large waves may cause beach material to be thrown onto sea fronts and coastal roads

This is to be followed by Storm Eunice on Friday.

The Met Office said that the situation was ongoing and continuing to develop and forecasts would be updated accordingly.

Yellow Warning For Strong Winds Issued In NI
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds throughout Northern Ireland. The warning comes into place at 1am on Wednesday, 24 January, until 2pm. Gusts of up to 50 to 60mph are expected. The high winds may affect public transport services and delays are expected.

Storm Arwen: Yellow Warning Issued For High Winds
A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued across Northern Ireland as the first named storm of the season, Storm Arwen, hits the UK. The Met Office has warned of very strong winds, with gusts up to 60mph/100km/h in exposed areas. The weather warning came into effect at 9am this morning and remains in place until 6pm on Saturday.
