Portadown Street Lighting Upgrade Works Complete

New modern LED street lighting has been installed across Portadown town centre, as part of an £8m investment by the Department for Infrastructure to replace existing lights with a new energy efficient LED street lighting systems.

The new lighting system extends from Bridge Street to Hanover Street and includes William Street, Thomas Street, Edward Street, Mandeville Street, West Street and Woodhouse Street.

Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "This significant investment will benefit everyone who travels and lives in the area. I am committed to addressing the issues which matter most to people and street lighting services are crucial in ensuring those driving, cycling, wheeling and walking can do so safely within their communities.

"This investment provides new modern LED lighting technology in Portadown Town Centre and will importantly provide adequate street lighting that not only improves the quality of lighting but is also more energy efficient, given my commitment to climate action.

"I would like to thank the public and local businesses for their cooperation and compliance with all temporary traffic restrictions while these much needed works were completed."

Craigavon Set To Benefit From £360,000 Street Lighting Scheme

Road Works To Get Started In Belfast
The Department for Regional Development will start work on a number of junction improvements in Belfast city centre next week. The improvements on Grosvenor Road/Durham Street and Hope Street/Great Victoria Street are part of the Belfast On The Move Transport Masterplan which will give higher priority to public transport, pedestrians and cyclists.
