Renewed Appeal For Information On Murder Of Martin Gavin

The PSNI have renewed an appeal for information on the murder of Martin Gavin, as Crimestoppers offer a reward for information.

Crimestoppers, who are independent of the police, has offered a reward of up to £20,000 for anonymous information it receives that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of Martin Gavin.

Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell said: "Martin Gavin was taken to hospital on the morning of Friday 7 January, after being stabbed in a house in north Belfast's Harcourt Drive.

"He sadly passed away some four weeks later, on the morning of Sunday 6 February.

"Mr Gavin's life, at just 47-years-old, has been cut short, and a family have been left bereft.

"A murder investigation has been launched and, today, I am appealing to anyone with information to do the right thing and come forward.

"Were you in the Harcourt Drive area in the early hours of Friday 7th January? Did you see or hear a disturbance or anyone acting suspiciously? If you have any information, or if you've captured dash cam footage, please contact us on 101 quoting reference number 188 of 07/01/22.

Man Arrested In Connection With L'Derry Murder
Detectives investigating the "brutal" murder of a woman in L'Derry in the early hours of Saturday, 24 August, have made an arrest. The PSNI have named the victim as 65-year-old Montserrat Martorell. She was found fatally wounded in a flat in the Harvey Street area, after emergency services responded to reports of a fire at the building.

Man Charged With Conspiracy To Commit Murder
A man has been charged in connection with a shooting in a Banbridge car park in April of this year. The 46-year-old man who has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder is due to appear before Banbridge Magistrates' Court, sitting in Newry Courthouse, on Thursday 8 August.

Vehicles Seized In Illegal Taxi Investigation In L'Derry
Police in L'Derry have seized a number of vehicles as part of a recent operation targeting illegal taxis operating in the city. Foyleside and The Moor Neighbourhood officers, working closely with Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA) transport enforcement colleagues, made the seizures during an operation in the city between 26th-28th June.

Man Arrested In Connection With Mary Ward's Murder
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Dublin in connection with the murder of Mary Ward. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday, 09 October, by members of An Garda Síochána. Mary Ward was last seen alive on Wednesday, September 25th.

Investigation Launches Over Mary Ward Murder
The Police Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the murder of Mary Ward. In the weeks leading up to her death, Mary had reported to the police that she was a victim of a violent crime. The body of 22-year-old Mary Ward was found by police at her home on Melrose Street last Tuesday.
