295 Drink And Drug Related Arrests Made In December - PSNI

A total of 295 arrests were made for drink and drug driving offences over the festive period, according to figures from the PSNI.

Officers carried out a total of 6,699 preliminary breath tests between 01 December 2021 and 01 January 2022.

According to police, 15 more arrests were made this year than the previous year. One of the arrests involved a 16-year-old, who police said "shouldn't have been driving on the road, let alone driving under the influence".

Chief Insp Graham Dodds is reported to have said that the highest reading detected during the campaign was 124mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Four Drink Driving Arrests In Just Three Hours
Four people have been arrested on drink driving offences in just a three hour period across Ards and North Down on Wednesday 10 May. At around 9.30pm, patrolling officers saw a driver having difficulty negotiating a corner in the Comber Road area of the town.

Drink driving campaign figures released
Over 100 drink drivers have been caught each week during the current PSNI Christmas anti-drink driving campaign. A message saying 'we warned you' was issued by police as they released that 217 drivers had been detected as being over the limit throughout the first two weeks of their annual winter campaign.

Man Found Sleeping In Car Was Over Four Times Legal Alcohol Limit
The PSNI discovered a man sleeping in a "seemingly abandoned" car on the M1 and he was almost four and a half times over the legal alcohol limit. The engine of the vehicle was still running. Officers discovered the car on the motorway and carried out an inspection on Wednesday, 13 July.

Charges dropped against ex-Newry City manager
Charges brought against a former Irish League football manager have been dismissed. Roy McCreadie, 47, who appeared at Armagh Court earlier today, was accused of assaulting a police officer, resisting a constable, and failing to take an alcohol breath test.

14-Year-Old Boy Among Those Arrested For Drink Driving
Over 300 drink drivers were detected by the PSNI over the festive period last year, with a 14-year-old boy among them. The figure of 322 was down by more than 10% on the previous year, with the oldest person being 83 years old.
