Man jailed for throwing dog over wall
A man has been jailed for throwing a dog over a 25-ft high wall in Londonderry.
Martin White, 19, of John Street in the city, was given a three month sentence after he was caught on CCTV cameras throwing a cocker spaniel over the city's walls and landing 25 feet below.
The incident occurred on 15 August last year following an argument between White and his friends and a female passer by.
White was also given a further eight months in prison for a range of offences including criminal damage, disorderly behaviour and assaults on police officers.
The dog, named Patch, managed to escape without any broken bones and has since made a complete recovery.

Appeal For Information On Hijacking Incidents In Co Tyrone
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information on a hijacking and a number of attempted hijackings in Magheramason, County Tyrone. Issuing the appeal, Detective Sergeant Connolly said: "We received a report just before 10:55pm on Monday 12 July that the female driver of a white Peugeot had her car hijacked as she drove along Victoria Road.

£10,000 worth of tyres have been stolen from a firm in Lisburn. It is understood thieves targeted the business on the Mullaghglass Road between 10.30pm on Sunday and 1.15am on Monday.
