'Terrorists Must Always Be Looking Over Their Shoulders' - Donaldson
Terrorists should not be allowed to stop looking over their shoulders – this was the message of DUP Leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson as he addressed an event in Clogher in opposition to the UK government's proposed amnesty.
The event "Standing By and For Justice - The UDR Family" was organised by the South East Fermanagh Foundation.
Sir Jeffrey said: "The Government's proposals on legacy will remove victims' access to justice. The Belfast Agreement sadly corrupted justice by opening the prison doors and giving terrorists get out of jail free passes but to remove access to justice altogether in such cases is to give those who live with physical and mental scars another body blow.
"My colleague Sammy Brush stands as testament that an element of justice, even after 30 years, is still possible. He was able to secure a conviction in 2011 against the man who came to murder him because of new investigative techniques.
"We will stand against those who want to rewrite the past. 90% of the deaths in the Troubles were the result of terrorists deliberately setting out to murder. The UDR stood up for democracy. I served in the Regiment alongside some of the finest men and women in Northern Ireland. They cared for their neighbour. They stood against the men of violence, and they would be appalled that the terrorists who shot them and their families will be able to stop looking over their shoulder."

Ministers assure no 'two-tier' justice system
Secretary of State Peter Hain has given an "absolute assurance" that community restorative justice schemes will not become an alternative to policing. Speaking after a meeting with the Policing Board in Belfast on Tuesday Mr Hain said he wanted to "nail the rumour" that community restorative justice was some kind of alternative to policing".

DoJ Publishes New Protocol For Delivery Of Restorative Justice
A new Protocol for the delivery of restorative justice in Northern Ireland has been published by the Department of Justice (DoJ). The new 2023 Protocol will govern the use of restorative interventions in the criminal justice system in NI and details how a new accreditation process will work for organisations and individuals.

Justice Minister David Ford has said the findings of a report on the so-called 'On the Run' letters are the first steps in rebuilding confidence in the justice system. Lady Justice Hallett has completed a review, ordered by Prime Minister David Cameron, on the so-called 'On the Run' letters.

Women Left 'Shaken' After Shooting
The PSNI are today probing an overnight shooting in Co Londonderry. The incident was at Hawthorne Place in Coleraine and saw three masked men entering a house shortly before 5pm on Wednesday and then firing a shot into a wall in the property before the three made off.
