Driving Tests Increase By 13% In September
The Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) received 6,661 driving test applications in September, 13% higher than in August (5,872) and some 37% higher than the five year September average (4,888).
This is according to the latest 'DVA Monthly Tests Conducted Statistics – September 2021' report.
Driver testing resumed on 23 April 2021, with the booking system opened to all customers in the first week of May 2021.
The DVA conducted 6,441 driving tests in September, just over 800 (14%) higher compared with August (5,628), and 41% above the five year September average (4,567).
Private cars accounted for 82% (5,267) of all driving tests conducted in September.
The report also reveals a drop in the number of Driver Theory Test – with 7,640 conducted in August, 25% lower that for July (10,134). However, the report states that this drop is likely the result of the contract for Driver Theory Testing transitioning from Person to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), a process which began on 4 September 2021.
The full report, which includes statistics for Vehicle Testing, can be found on the Department for Infrastructure website.
