Two Men Charged With The Murder Of Lyra McKee

Two men have been charged with the murder of Lyra McKee.

Journalist Lyra McKee (29) was fatally shot as she observed rioting in the Creggan estate in L'Derry in April 2019.

Four men were arrested earlier this week by detectives investigating Ms McKee's death.

Two of the men, aged 21 and 33, have now been charged with her murder. They are also to be charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life, riot, possession of petrol bombs, throwing petrol bombs and arson.

A third man, aged 20, is to be charged with riot, possession of petrol bombs and throwing petrol bombs.

The fourth man, aged 19, has been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

Petrol Bomb Attacks Target Fountain - Again
A fourth petrol bomb attack on a Londonderry interface has further heightened tensions in the area. The mainly Protestant Fountain estate in central Derry has seen several attacks which have this week led to warnings from both nationalist and unionist politicians that someone could be killed in a confrontation.

PSNI Confirms Flag Violence Arrests
The PSNI has confirmed a total of eight arrests were made as a result of disorder over the Belfast City Hall union flag issue. Three police officers were injured when missiles ranging from petrol bombs, paint bombs, fireworks and heavy masonry were thrown by loyalist protesters. PSNI vehicles were attacked with hatchets and sledge hammers.

Larne Properties Damaged In Petrol Bomb Attacks
Two properties have been damaged in Larne after petrol bombs were thrown on Sunday night. Police received reports between approximately 11 and 11.15pm that petrol bombs had been thrown at two homes, and windows smashed and graffiti daubed at another.

Investigation Launched Into Petrol Bomb Attack In Ballymena
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a report of a petrol bomb incident in the Queen Street area of Ballymena. Shortly before 10.15pm on Monday, March 4, it was reported that two petrol bombs were thrown through the living room window of a house in the area. Neither of the petrol bombs ignited.

Police Vehicle Attacked In East Belfast
A police vehicle has been attacked with petrol bombs in east Belfast on Thursday night. The incident happened in St Patrick's Walk at around 8pm. Three petrol bombs were thrown at the vehicle, however there were no reports of any injuries or damage. Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
