Appeal For Information On Two North Belfast Hijackings

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following two separate hijacking incidents in north Belfast.

A female nurse, who had just finished a night shift, was stopped and forced out of her car on the Crumlin Road near the Mater Hospital early on Saturday morning.

In a separate incident on Sunday afternoon on Hopewell Avenue a man was dragged from his car, which was then taken to Denmark Street and set on fire.

Police have said that two men have been arrested in connection with the hijacking on Sunday.

Anyone with any information about either incident, or who may have witnessed either hijacking, to contact them.

Appeal For Information On Hijacking Incidents In Co Tyrone
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information on a hijacking and a number of attempted hijackings in Magheramason, County Tyrone. Issuing the appeal, Detective Sergeant Connolly said: "We received a report just before 10:55pm on Monday 12 July that the female driver of a white Peugeot had her car hijacked as she drove along Victoria Road.

Man stabbed in car hijacking
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed during a car hijacking in Co Antrim on Tuesday. The incident occurred at the Kingsway Complex in Dunmurry at around 10pm. The man was getting into his vehicle when he was approached by another man who demanded his keys.

Negligence Costs Dept Of Health £116m
The cost of settling health and social care negligence cases in Northern Ireland has cost the Department of Health £116m over the past five years, according to a new report. Many patients in Northern Ireland are suffering from largely preventable harm through services provided by Health and Social Care Trusts, the report said.
