New Hottest Day On Record As Heatwave Continues
Northern Ireland has provisionally recorded its hottest day on record for the second time in five days.
A temperature of 31.3 °C was recorded at 2:37pm on Wednesday 21 July in Castlederg, County Tyrone – exceeding the temperature recorded in Ballywatticock on Saturday 17 July of 31.2 °C.
The temperature record will remain provisional however, while checks of the equipment are carried out to confirm that they are working correctly.
The previous confirmed record temperature of 30.8C recorded in both 1978 and 1983, will stand until the new record is verified.

New Public Record Office To Be Built
Belfast’s Titanic Quarter is set to be the location of a new state of the art Public Record Office, it has been revealed. Culture Minister Edwin Poots made the announcement today while visiting the new site, which is adjacent to the Gateway building at the entrance to the Titanic Quarter.

PRONI Marks Centenary With Tour Of Historical Documents
A number of historical documents, including a letter by Seamus Heaney and passenger logs from emigration ships that departed Foyle Port for North America in the mid-1800s, are to be put on display as part of a regional tour of local libraries by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI).

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) has unveiled a searchable database of over three million names in an innovative partnership with the high-profile genealogy online platform Ancestry. Approximately 3.2 million name indexes, relating to valuation records for the period 1864 to 1933, are now free to access with an Ancestry.

Jobs & Benefits Offices Closed On 19 September
Department for Communities' offices and business operations will be closed on Monday 19 September, due to a bank holiday declared for the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Benefit payments The closures will not affect benefit or pension payments as payments due on Monday 19 September will be made by that date.
