Teenager Robbed At Knife Point In Belfast City Centre
Police in Belfast have issued an appeal for information after a teenager was robbed at knife in Belfast city centre.
According to reports, a male, aged in his late teens, had initially asked two older males for directions. The men then walked with the teenager from Great Victoria Street, via Grosvenor Road and Durham Road. Once they had reached Athol Street, the men threatened the teenager with a knife before making off with a sum of money.
The incident occurred at around 8.30pm on Wednesday 14 July.
Police have appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have dash-cam footage to contact police on 101 quoting reference 2025 of 14/07/21. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers.
DUP Condemn Graffiti Attack On Rasharkin Orange Hall
DUP MLA for North Antrim Mervyn Storey has condemned a graffiti attack on Rasharkin Orange Hall.
The North Antrim MLA said: "Sadly there are an unrepresentative number of individuals who cannot just accept that even a building representing a different tradition exists in the village.
"This latest attack is to be condemned. It is particularly disappointing given there was a very peaceful 12th parade in the village on Monday, without any incidents, protests or provocation.
"I have no doubt that this sectarian attack will be condemned by the majority of the people of Rasharkin.
"I have spoken to the Police and asked that attention is given to Orange Halls in the area."
Island-Wide Vaccination Certificate System Must Be Developed
A Covid vaccination certificate system must be developed for the whole island of Ireland, Sinn Féin health spokesperson Colm Gildernew has said.
The MLA continued: "With the continued roll-out of the COVID vaccination programmes across the island it is essential that vaccine certificate systems north and south work together.
"The Health Minister needs to work with his southern counterpart so that the app in the north works in tandem with the digital vaccination certificate in the south.
"This is particularly important as people move across the island during the summer holiday period, as well as for those in border areas who travel across the border on a daily basis.
"The pandemic has shown that our health systems across the island work best when they work together and this is an area where closer cooperation is crucial."
