Belfast Pub Closes Amid Positive Covid Case

Belfast pub Horatio Todd's has closed its doors for a few days after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The East Belfast establishment shared the information on their Facebook page on Monday evening, 12 July, informing customers they would be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

They are expected to reopen again on Thursday 15 July following a deep clean, meanwhile all staff members are being tested and will not be allowed to return until they show a negative test.

In their statement, Horatio Todd's said the individual was not a customer facing staff member and instead worked behind the bar and not on the floor on their last shift. Despite customers being at "minimal risk", those in the venue on Sunday evening, 11 July, and showing symptoms are advised to get tested.

They continued: "Also as of yet, we haven't been contacted by the PHA for customer details but this is all very new. If they need the track and trace details, we'll happily provide it and let them take it from there.

"Sorry about this and sorry to anyone that was booked with us on Tuesday or Wednesday but we just can't take risks here. Super cautious is the way to go. I hope you understand.

"Just because they're opening everything up doesn't mean we're out of the woods here. Best practices with hand washing, sanitising and mask wearing will prevent this from getting any worse and hopefully we can continue on down the road to normality."
