Yellow Warning For Rain Issued

The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for rain across most of Northern Ireland.

The forecaster has warned that "slow moving heavy, occasionally thundery, showers will give a risk of flooding this afternoon and early evening". The weather warning came into effect at 11am this morning, Monday 05 July, and remains in place until 20:00.

Some public transport services may be affected with journey times possibly taking longer. Some interruption to power supplies and other services possible, according to the Met Office.

Investigation Launched Into Fire At Strabane Coffin Makers

An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at a coffin makers in Strabane, County Tyrone.

According to reports, a fire broke out at O'Doherty's on Railway Street on the afternoon of Sunday 04 July.

It is understood that the fire began during a heavy storm in the area and may have been caused by a lightning strike.

New Divis Mountain Bus Service Launched

Translink NI are offering a new service to one of Belfast's most popular tourist attractions, Divis Mountain.

The new bus route will operate from Glencolin terminus in Belfast to the National Trust cafe on Divis Mountain.

The service will operate every 45 minutes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for an initial period of eight weeks.

It is hoped that the service will prove popular enough to show a need for a permanent service.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE

An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.
